...because the computer recorded announcements are crystal clear. The problem is with the MICROPHONES that the conductors use to make them. You can't hear a damn thing they say.

After decades of this problem, wouldn't they finally clue in that they need to stop buying microphones at walmart and maybe get some professional equipment??

This is the agency that still uses vacuum tubes in equipment and you expect modern microphones and Bluetooth technology?

If you visit the transit museum in downtown Brooklyn (which I highly recommend by the way), you can look inside an antique signal room with all the light bulbs and rusted old equipment. But then you realize, that's no an antique signal room, it's a real room they use now that is in operation all over the system! (except on the L train line and soon 7 line)
