Abel Cedeno gets 14 years for stabbing classmate to death (Accord: high school, college)

A Bronx teen convicted of stabbing his high school classmate to death and injuring another was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Tuesday — as he apologized for the “damage” he caused.

Abel Cedeno, 19, was handed the sentence by Judge Michael Gross in a packed Bronx Supreme Court courtroom where Cedeno’s family — including his mother, sister and grandmother — were present.

“Everything that happened that day almost two years ago, I’m not the same person I was two years ago,” Cedeno told the court after the judge asked if there was anything he’d like to say.

“I have been sorry about everything, for the damage I caused, for hurting two families,” said Cedeno.

Cedeno was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter and assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon back in July.

The judge on Tuesday denied Cedeno’s requests for youthful offender status, which would let him keep the conviction off applications for college or work.

The teen’s family blew kisses to Cedeno as he was taken away in handcuffs.

Nah nah nah...you don’t kill someone and apologize. Why? Because there is no way to bring back that person. So consider 14 years in prison as a slap on the wrist.

You also don't bully anyone since sometimes that person can take it to the next level like this one did.

I agreed that no one should bully anyone, but it doesn’t justify for someone to be kill. Sure, there are ways to prevent that from happening, and the best place to start is being a responsible parent.

i agree. Every parent should tell their kids to keep their hands to him/herself.

According to the stories when it happened, the deceased went to hit the kid after he saw the knife. The deceased was no angel nor apparently very bright. Anyone who initiates an assault should consider they might end up dead.

Cedeno demanded to know who did it, and when the McCree stepped forward to tell him it was an accident, Cedeno pulled a knife out of his front pocket, she said. It was a three-inch switchblade, Police Chief Robert Boyce said during a press conference later in the day.

McCree moved in to strike Cedeno, and Cedeno plunged the blade into the young man’s chest, Colon said.

You don't pull out a knife in school, throw hands instead

With that being said, I never thought the deceased was 100% innocent either but I wasn't there, so I don't know the truth, its just my humble MoD opinion
