After hitting a speed bump last year, Citi Bike’s electric bikes, also known as E-bikes, have returned to city streets.

Ten months ago Lyft, the company that owns Citi Bike, pulled its original fleet of E-bikes from the bike-share system because of a breaking problem. The force of the breaks put too much pressure on the front wheel, causing some riders to fly off the bikes. The company has redesigned the bicycles, putting the motor in the back, and redesigned the braking system.

Lyft says these new bikes are safe.

Oh? Causing some riders to fly off the bikes? Yeah, that's a little glitch.

Lyft owns Citibike? One more reason to dislike Lyft. I thought they were owned by Citibank.

Is it just me? But I always notice the people who use a E-bike is usually an overweight or really scrawny looking person. They often look like they don't have good balance and about to fall off the E-bike when they hit bumps.

The bikes were owned by Motivate. Citibank was a sponsor so that is why they were called Citibikes.

Why do you dislike Lyft?

I like them but they're oddly expensive rides compared to the subway. An e-bike trip can easily go over $8+ for the equivalent of a 3 subway stop ride for $2.75.
