Borough Park is an extremely orthodox Jewish area. Borough Park, Brooklyn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't know anything about it personally, but if I were you I would try to find something elsewhere in Brooklyn - like Bay Ridge or Ditmas Park or Kensington.

It's on the edge of Borough Park, close to Brooklyn Chinatown. It's a perfectly safe area, even after dark, but it's also incredibly boring. You would be better off moving to nearby Bay Ridge, which is still fairly cheap for rentals.

very very very, safe. boring = safe though, eh? it's rather residential / mom/pop and somewhat of a passthrough area, since it's the fthamiltonpkway route. 10yrs ago it was even more quiet/dead w/ less store fronts. that's near circus fruits etc. and a N train stop.
