Handicapping horses is can be profitable, there are less races than hands in blackjack/poker so the vig has less chance to shallow your bankroll. The races are very exciting when the money is on the line and the horses are very honest and game giving a tremendous effort to reach the wire first. The game is ancient and huge part of human history.

The most important thing about betting on races to form a positive or negative opinion about the betting favorite. The majority of the people think the favorite is going to win so you have to see if the public are right or wrong. There will be lots of dumb money bet on the fave as the masses are loaded with little me too's who like the safety of the pack.
