Love going out to Aqueduct racetrack for a day of ponies out in Ozone Park. This is the best benefit of living in the NY metro area. Access to the best racing on a daily basis.

If you are a sports fan you are getting fleeced. $100 for two to go to a ballgame is a rip-off and you are doing nothing for yourself. Head out to Aqueduct on the A train to the Aqueduct station and you can watch a great game for $1. You can go down get some sun walk around at your leisure, admire the beautiful horses, and people watch in a very interesting, dynamic environment.

If you want a upscale experience get a table at the Equestris restaurant which is high above the action in a glass enclosed, heated luxury suite. The food is tasty and the action is sultry.

Learn how to read the Daily Racing form and form your own opinion. Don't just sit there and watch get involved and make your score. With your sharp opinion the races can be better than banking. When you bet on the horses you are not playing against the house like at a casino, you are playing against everyone else. There are many little me too types among the masses, with some courage combined with smarts you can beat the crowd. Your trips to Aqueduct will be very profitable. Para mutual wagering works just like the stock market. To form the most independent of opinions your information must be based on methods that are unique, so go ahead and make your personality part of your wagering strategy. You must play against the public and not with the public and their group think that bets down each favorite , bet that long shot and go home a richer person who is rewarded handsomely for their sharp independent opinion. You will never find that kind of reward at a ball game, where your opinion is worth less and the ball players get all of the money. At Aqueduct the fans get all of the money.

Hey samyn--would you kindly give me some advice on how to learn to handicap, as you do? Do you offer tutoring? I am serious. I currently play poker and blackjack, but the commutes to Atlantic City are very long and tedious. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Default Aqueduct 101

Handicapping horses is can be profitable, there are less races than hands in blackjack/poker so the vig has less chance to shallow your bankroll. The races are very exciting when the money is on the line and the horses are very honest and game giving a tremendous effort to reach the wire first. The game is ancient and huge part of human history.

The most important thing about betting on races to form a positive or negative opinion about the betting favorite. The majority of the people think the favorite is going to win so you have to see if the public are right or wrong. There will be lots of dumb money bet on the fave as the masses are loaded with little me too's who like the safety of the pack. The most important thing is to make a determination of whether or not this favorite is legit. If he/she is legit the race is not that juicy unless you have so much confidence that you feel like the fave horse has very little chance of losing then bet with confidence.

If the fave is vulnerable then you have the odds and in your favor and may be looking at a huge score at huge odds. To make this determination is somewhat elementary some what an art. the skills required involve reviewing at the horses form, looking at he/she in the flesh parading around and forming the opinion of whether or not he ready to roll today.

Master this elementary skill and you are well on your way to making weekly scores at the races.

More lessons are available at your request. Classes are held at the Aqueduct campus during the winter and move to the Belmont campus for the summer. If you live in NY and enjoy a wager you should make the game a part of your life.
