Pretty bad right now in the morning.
I am sitting high up in an office tower and you can only see like up to the next block. Normally I can see across the river.
How bad is upstate/Canada if we are getting this bad of a haze?
Syracuse-Rochester-Buffalo NY is very very bad right now currently worst air in world it will make way down to NYC, CT, NJ, PA later in few hours it will get darker hour by hour. The worst is coming after 3 or 4 today.
How is it “bad quality” air though? It is coming from a burning forest of trees far away. That is not unnatural. It smells kind of good actually. How can that be described as bad?

Is breathing this for 4 hours the same as breathing regular NYC air for 12 hours? Trying to understand if this is typical media dramatization or a real issue to avoid?
I agree. My next fear is our power hungry liberal dictator politicians will try some kind of lockdown due to this too. Yes, folks with asthma may be affected negatively from this, but are these toxins otherwise dangerous for the average person? It is just like sitting around a campfire as someone else mentioned.
I was in NYC all day yesterday and only started smelling smoke around 6pm. Earlier in the day, the air seemed perfectly fine to me.

Break out that Covid N95 mask you never used. It’ll block the worst of it. Regular surgical mask if you don’t have the N95 works well too. And if your eyes are sensible, wear goggles. Hope this will be over soon
