Sorry, new to this forum business. Still trying to find my way around. Recently retired military with “toys.” Wife wants to move back to "The City" (NYC). What are the current rules on firearms, parking for motorcycles, cars and other toys? Looking at going back into the Queens area.

Getting your guns registered is going to be your biggest headache. Both rifles and hand guns need a permit. Rifle permits are not too difficult to get, but pistol permits are purposefully difficult to obtain.

I don't think you're going to have too much of a problem parking a motorcycle. However the thought of driving around on a motorcycle on some of the streets & highways around me seems frightening. I'll stick with my seatbelts and airbags .

1) Firearms: Virtually impossible to get a CCW permit here. You could get one if you plan to work as an armed security guard or if you show proof that you transport large amounts of $ on a daily basis, but otherwise, it's extremely hard to get.

2)Bikes and cars: Parking bikes shouldn't be a hassle, as I'm looking across my window as I'm writing this and see a motorcycle secured to a light post on the sidewalk. Parking a car will be a hassle because of trying to parking and the whole alternate side parking game.

Thanks for the quick reply. My first and oldest gun was bought on Chambers Street prior to the building of the Trade Center. I guess I neglected to state the remaining motorcycle is a GoldWing. Kind of difficult to hoist up a curb (especially for an old folk like me). I have really mixed feelings about coming back to the city. Wife wants to go for an apartment. That means giving up many years of toys, including table saws, mechanics tools, etc. Maybe I can convince her to go back into a house.

There's no reason you can't use a table saw in the living room of your apartment. You clearly just need to work on your wife a little bit further to convince her of this
