Hi
I am posting here from Ireland. I am trying to arrange a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday. He will be staying in Brooklyn (Bedford Avenue) at the end of December to 3rd Jan.
Basically I would like to arrange a flying lesson for him while he is over in the US. I found a company in New Jersey that may be running classes during his stay .The flight centre is Essex County airport Fairfield NJ. I have looked online but I just can't find out how to get from Bedford Ave Brooklyn to the flight centre . He won't be hiring a car during his stay.
I have never been to New york so I really haven't a clue.
Is it very far away?
Can anyone help please

Thanks

just get a limo to drive you

it will look better for a birthday party

if you keep switching trains and buses, it will look like you are cheap

Just one straight ride over is the way to go

It should not be that far

It is feasible to get to Fairfield on public transport. What your boyfriend would need to do is take the subway to Manhattan to Penn Station. Then, he would take the NJTransit train from Penn to Newark Penn Station. From there, he would need to take Bus 29 to West Caldwell. From West Caldwell, it would be Bus 71 towards Fairfield, which goes right by the Essex County Airport from the bus map. Due to scheduling delays and such, it could actually take close to two hours door-to-door with all of the connections, two trains and two buses plus overlap wait times. If he really wants to do it, though, check the schedules and see if the airport can offer any faster means of getting there.

Here's a link to NJTransit for more information: New Jersey Transit

Hi OP. I'm assuming that you are aware also of the tremendous amount of red tape involved with persons from abroad taking flying lessons in the USA since 9/11?
