Can anyone name a single place in the Bronx where young professionals congregate? I've read all the stuff about gentrification, and everyone seems to be missing the point. Wealthier people may be moving back in, but I see no evidence that these people actually like being there. Until there are bars, theaters, parks, and restaurants that people enjoy for leisurely purposes, it's not gentrification -- it's just people looking for cheap bedrooms that are close to Manhattan.

In short: where is the hippest place in the Bronx? The Botanical Garden? City Island? lol.

A lot of people here will probably suggest Riverdale.

Mott Haven is nice. South Brox, there's a lot of young kids in the lofts near the Bruckner Expwy and there's a bar, "Bruckner Bar" that always has a good crowd of young, friendly, locals.

The Bronx is just starting to get its act together, as a result there are few places for what you seek. I can say that Bruckner Bar & Grill is a great start, and its where alot of local professionals as well as artists/transplants congregate. If you start talking with the people in the place (everyone is very friendly) you will quickly learn what's new, places to go, etc. But yes I agree...it is hard to find 1 spot. City Island is not it, nor is 718 or GBar. Start with Bruckner Bar & Grill...better yet...maybe we can start a group? I am looking for the same thing, and am sure alot of other people are also! PM me if this sounds interesting...
