Do the women really outnumber the men in New York City? (living, places)

Hello everyone, this may sound kind of naive but is it really true that in New York City, the women outnumber the men? I saw on some board that theres around 200,000 more than men. Just wondering....

Nope not naive, there are more women than men in NYC. Not by a huge percentage but something like a 5-8% difference

It might be that way statistically but as a single guy living here it really doesn't feel that way.

If it is true that there are 200,000 more women than men in NYC, then that means there are approx 4,300,000 females compared to 4,100,000 males. The difference would likely be attributable to the fact that males' life expectancy is shorter than females'.

There also seems to be a notion out there that there are more young, single women than young, single men. I hear it a lot from girls that are from somewhere else but live in nyc now. I think this is true, but the difference is not significant, at all.

There are more women than men in general. Something like 51% women and 49% men. More females are born and they live longer.

It just makes sense that would be reflected in NY.

IT holds true in NYC that women out number men but its not signficant amount. The only place in this country were we men out number women is prison! lol
