I'm interested in a summer sublet at La Salle/124th between Broadway and Amsterdam. From what I understand it's the northernmost border of the Morningside area, almost at Harlem proper.
Is this an OK neighborhood to live in? Safe etc? The commute to where I work is tolerable, that I know. I'm just worried about safety/quality of life stuff. Advice? Input?

safe area even thought the projects (Grant) are on la salle street. they are safe so not to worry. been around there all hours of night in the dead of summer and not even a fly bothered me.

Agreed. I live on 134th between Broadway and Amsterdam and it's fine. I wouldn't say great, but it's safe and I haven't had any issues. Just use common sense and you will be fine.

Don't be so frightened by names. Morningside Heights, Harlem, it doesn't make a difference. It's LaSalle at 124th, and it's OK no matter what you call the neighborhood.
