Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if New Paltz has a family friendly neighborhood that is walkable to the downtown? I have read that in the village it is primarily student rented housing (i.e. loud and drunk), so better for families to live outside the center. However, that means having to drive to get to restaurants, library, etc...please advise and thanks!

That's a tough one. The village is rather inundated with college students. Try looking to see if you can find anything on these streets (north of main):

You might also want to try Plains Road, just west of the village.

Thanks for your reply. It's not easy to find everything you wish for in one place, is it? I'll look into those areas you pointed out.

I've got a thought for you. When you drive through town go over the Wallkill river bridge and make your first right. After about half a mile fthe road will fork and take the left fork towards Mohonk. In about half a mile it becomes residential. It is a little walk but it is pjossible
