The Longest Multi-Use State Trail in NY State (and the USA) is fully open starting today. It goes from Manhattan to the Canadian Border. How much do you might actually use it?

I’ve actually seen people using the Erie Boulevard East portion of the trail in DeWitt already.

The River and Canal trails in Rochester have been popular for 10-20 years

^Yes, in the Syracuse area, there are trails along the old Erie Canal in DeWitt and Camillus that are quite popular as well.

With this trail, this is an area of Erie Boulevard East in DeWitt: https://goo.gl/maps/YhTCDWzyU3ZDkhSeA

In the median, there are bike lanes and the boulevard went on a road diet, with each side losing a lane for more trail space in the middle.

There's a bike trail in there somewhere? Yikes! Do you have any photos of the finished product?

Parts of this in the Finger Lakes are still in progress. You can still see detours posted of certain roads and bridges out because they are working on the trail. Also, in some areas along the canal roads literally have a designated white lane for hikers and bikers since there is no "trail" established yet but other sections have already been completed. My understanding is that there are property disputes in some areas, so it is taking time to reroute the trail system. Even closer to Rochester the trail is bonkers, because they wanted it to coincide with the old Lehigh Valley Railroad system years ago.

No, that is an older street view that I used to just illustrate where the trail is located.

Some construction from earlier in the year: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.loc...continues/amp/
