cremated ashes infused in tattoo (girlfriend, person, member, issues)

When my mom passed and was cremated, my niece got a tattoo in her memory and my mom's ashes are in the tattoo.
Personally, I would find this creepy. If I had met a guy with his grandparent's ashes infused in his skin- what a turnoff! I would not be able to get intimate!
Anyway- has anyone ever heard of this? I wonder if there would be any health issues with it?

Ashes are basically carbon and carbon is the main ingredient in black ink so theoretically it should be OK.
However, we don't know how cremains have been handled or stored since cremation. Thus, there's no idea how sterile they may be. I think that's what people have to worry about. You wouldn't know if you were injecting some sort of pathogen into your skin until after you did it.

Yup - that would be my only issue; the safety of it.
Well, since I know the profound depth of holding my
mother's ashes, and sobbing for an hour...I could easily put a
little in the ink of a personal tattoo...it would be my personal decision
I would hold close to my heart...probably telling only my closest girlfriends...
like one that wept for 2 hours, left alone, in hospice with her head
on her mother's heart...still warm.
No one knows how some adore their mothers and how deep the
soul connection is.
I see it as a way of personally honoring the mother keeping her close
in the person's memory always.
That is how I would see it.
The bacteria issue I would not know about and would deal with properly.
You can keep a memory of your loved ones alive and honor them without wearing human remains on your body. Why not make a necklace of their mummified finger while you're at it.
A physical part of what is, in its most basic form, the meatsack we live in while we're alive, should not be necessary to remember someone you were close with. I would wonder why a person felt they needed something so extreme.
Lol! I guess it personally is not for me. I agree with doing it for yourself, telling only close friends. Maybe that is why I questioned it- my niece used it for bragging rights, as if she were so special for it. Anyway, that's a different story.
I also agree that physical idolotries are not needed to remember, cherish, or honor loved ones that haved passed away...
