I have a friend that comments on every cute, funny, inspirational etc thing on Facebook with "true story" How does she know it is true? Example: Cute saying-Man cannot live on bread alone--pass the doughnuts. My friends comment: "true story."
I also have to watch myself, and keep from saying "_________ is going to drive me to drink" I don't even drink.
I hate "back in the day" and "good times" or, even worse, "good times, good times." Although you don't hear it much anymore, I also hate to "got your back," as in, "I've got your back."
These are great. I'm guilty of some of them myself, though..
Some of my pet peeves:
"terrible tragedy" - are there any good tragedies?
any use of an adverb or modifier with "unique" - so unique, very unique - ugh!
Ones I hear at work that gross me out:
"under the kimono"
"cheeks in seats" instead of headcount
"sniff test". Eeuuww.
I've heard this phrase said frequently by people from KY, MS, and AL.
"I borrowed her/him money," (instead of loaned the person money). What's that about?
