i would prefer not to know such things! i feel like i am a decent judge of character. past actions aren't always indicative of future behaviors.

that being said, if i "knew" (can we ever know such things with certainty?) i'm sure i would feel uncomfortable being around the person.

Some behaviors such as child abuse tend to be indicative of future behavior. Usually, they are repeat offenders. No, I could never be friends with such a person. That is reprehensible behavior.

Yikes no. It's a deal breaker in my universe. I have too many shorties in my life and the thought of anyone looking at them that way would be enough for me to want to put a bullet right between the eyes....or other places.

I was acquaintances with a guy I knew through a community betterment program and one night we were chatting online about a project and he told me he and I had the same profession. So I googled him to see if we might know anyone in common. It came up quick, news stories about him being arrested for having sex with a teenager. I told him I read that, giving him a chance to explain it away. And he had a real good story that jived with the only article I read (she was passing herself off as a lot older to several men who thought they were "dating", etc).

I kind of felt bad for him. But the next morning I did more digging. When he was let out on bail he tried to contact the victim again for sex, went trolling online for underage girls for hookups, etc. Most of the men were given probation and not a sex offender status, but he was sent to prison for a while and is a registered offender.

Not only did I cut ties, I told everyone in the group about his history and sent links. It wasn't to be vindictive, but some of those people had teenage daughters

In general, yes, the friendship would be over. Child molesters sicken me.

One poster mentioned an instance where a friend was accused of molesting a daughter by a vindictive ex-wife--I would wait to see how it all played out UNLESS I had reason to believe the accusations were true.

No I would not continue that friendship, no child molesters, killers, abusers of others including animals, sociopaths who screw others over.

No I don't need their friendship.

Absolutely NOT!

People who molest and abuse children are among the most vile of people. Animal abusers are high on the list as well.

Don't need those types of people in my life.
