Interesting article about diffusers and focusers

Friendship Advice: When Your Best Friend Brings a Crowd - WSJ

Apparently, there are people who prefer one on one friendships with deep conversations. These would be the focusers.

Then there is the group that thinks along the lines of the more the merrier. They prefer lots of people and shallow conversations, teasing, etc.

I'm definitely a focuser.

I go in waves. Though as a adult focus is a lot harder. I invite people with similar friendship depth for some events (like only really close friends). Or we break off one on one.

My native personality is diffuser with deep relationships.

This weekend I saw an old friend, and it was the three of us, we had a friendship as a trio when I introduced the 3rd person. We have many shared memories across the three of us.

And as I have gotten older more of the longer term friendships have merged and everyone is also close to each other in the group.
