I'm a big fan of texas hold'em and I knew moving down here that live poker is hard to come by.

The casino in the NC mountains has video poker, but that really doesn't help.

Anyone know if our neighboring states (ie SC, TN, VA, etc) are anywhere near having casinos approved in the near future?

thanks!

There was talk about them opening up a live poker roon at Harrahs in Cherokee. Not sure where it stands, but you might can call them and check it out.

There are two gambling boats in the Myrtle Beach area, both docked at the waterfront in Little River, just across the Intracoastal Waterway bridge that separates North Myrtle Beach from Little River. The Gambling Boats take their passengers on the infamous "cruise to nowhere" a few miles off the coast, into international waters, outside the USA jurisdiction, where it's legal to gamble.

It seems to me that they requested a change in their original agreement with the state to allow table games, but the state had not responded.

I've been on the SunCruz boats and it seems as if it's better if you can go during the week. I went on a Saturday and it was ridden with feisty old people who get very territorial about their "spot" on the backjack tables or their "spot" at the craps table. I had an old man threaten me if i didn't get out of his way at the craps table

I would also suggest eating before you go, since the food was horrible.

Good Luck!!!

LOL, I can picture an 85 yr old w/the unfiltered, unashed camel hanging out of his mouth yelling at me...

I'm mostly interested in the poker tourneys, so I'll have to call and ask what's the avg amount of people they get for these...

Much appreciated!

There is a Harrah's casino in Cherokee, NC, in the far western corner of the state. It offers only video poker and video slots, as well as video blackjack (at tables, with a "dealer", who completes the payouts). Been there a few times, and I've had far better luck in Las Vegas. Slots are not very loose.

There are casinos about every hour here in WA. It was just surprised to hear there weren't many. Is there a reason for that?
