Maybe the tax cuts aren't such a good idea after all.

New figures from legislative analysts confirm the 2013 cut to individual income tax rates is costing the state far more than originally projected.

Just be patient, the trickle down will soon engulf us all.

To be fair, NC's income tax rate was outrageously high. I'm glad it was cut, it needed to be, and IMO should be done away with entirely. However I realize prop taxes must go up.

LOL.

This is a statement from two consultants responding to a Senator from the NC Democrat party, Josh Stein who released it. His website is pretty much nothing but this sort of thing. It's about as partisan as it gets.

It's opiate for tax and spenders who want to see money taken from workers to be controlled by politicians and government hacks. For the people who actually pay taxes, it's nonsense.

I don't understand the mentality of the "tax and spenders". They rail against "trickle down" and other catch phrases but then have no issue at all when the state takes food off worker's tables.

Tax cuts for the ultra wealthy don't take food off anyone's table, and personally I've never heard of any "tax and spender" callously taking food from anyone. Or championing hacks of any stripe for that matter.

You know, there used to be another guy around here that "couldn't understand" a lot. He posted early in the morning, always thought people were labeling him... funny, because even though the "couldn't understand" much, he still claimed to be right on every subject (goodness knows he always had THE correct answer). Funny thing about that guy... he changed usernames so much he was never around to defend his outlandish conclusions. Ha. Anyway, you kinda remind me of that dude. He'd remember me... I've never had to switch usernames.

In another Thread it has been mentioned that this style of tax cut has been seen in another state (NJ). It didnt work in NJ and it will only hurt the people of NC. Your Real Estate Taxes will be raised until the average family will not be able to afford them. The GA needs to be changed this year before they can do any more damage.

The problem with "Trickle Down" is that rich folks don't start businesses because they have extra money, they start businesses because there is a demand for goods or services. No demand, no goods or services.

Politicians generally did not take economics in school, and they are not too bright to begin with.

Indeed. The vast majority of people who start businesses are NOT rich. Yet in places like NC they find it increasingly difficult to start a business and even more difficult to hire their first employee because the tax burden makes it too expensive to do so.

Or course government workers, people living on welfare, and people who have never worked don't understand this. They like the socialism provided by the government taking from the productive and handing it over to them.

What a load of rubbish. First, NC consistently ranks among the best states for business, and our tax burden is not out of line when compared to other states. In fact, we rank at about the middle of the pack among all states.

Second, your trumpeting of the right-wing mantra that "taxes are bad" seems to ignore the fact that taxes support many beneficial and important services, not the least of which are education, physical and mental health care, and environmental protection. The actions of this GA has put these areas at serious risk in our state. Government workers, people living on welfare, and people who have never worked are not the problem here.
