There are places between, but I think you both would be miserable commuting that far. It would be even harder with a small child.

I think you should both decide whether to stay in Raleigh or move to Charlotte.

Well honestly that commute is going to get old, but as far as middle grounds go, I guess you can look at Either Greensboro or Winston Salem

The commute will definitely get old. Depending on where your job offer is in Charlotte & work schedule, you could be stuck in a lot of traffic coming in & out of Charlotte. Also you have to keep your child's best interest in mind. If you both commute a hour or so away will you have a way to pick your child up if school closes early or he/she gets sick etc

No, you don't want to do that. It _could_ be done. I've known people who commuted out of state (flew) weekly (racked up A LOT of frequent flyer miles), but I wouldn't even consider it.

More suggestions for what?

Greensboro is about half way between Raleigh and Charlotte. Each of you would have about a 90 minute commute. I certainly wouldn't sign up for that.

The Triad is a option but you will still have a long commute. It may take you 30 minutes to get from I-85/Concord Mills exit to Uptown via I-77 alone plus you also have the widening of 85 near Kannapolis that causes delays frequently on top of the massive toll lane construction/realignment of parts of 77 into/ out of Uptown. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it but just trying to give you as accurate idea of what you may have to deal with

If you worked at CIC in University it would be a bit closer but still NOPE. Leaving Uptown from Wells 1 2 or 3 is a nightmare. I used to be at Well 3 until they moved us to CIC. It would take 30-45 minutes sometimes just to get out of uptown if there was something like speed street, taste of Charlotte, or a game on Thursday night. I would say see if you can work from home or some other option as thats going to be a headache.
