I'm hoping someone could give me some advice for establishing Bermuda grass in my lawn. Just to give you an idea of what we are working with: My house is new construction, and 40' back from the dwelling we have Bermuda sod that covers portions of our backyard, and from there in an area of approximately 150'x250' is open soil with no sod. It should also be noted that this area beyond the sod is the septic field area of our backyard, so I know I don't want to till in that area.

When the house was built they threw out some sort of Rye grass to give it some color, but it's since died off over the winter and I want to put Bermuda seed back there. My question is, do I need to go back in there now and kill everything off with a weed and grass killer, wait a few weeks, and then seed? I know most would suggest tilling, but I just don't want to risk it before seeding. If there's some tips that can be given, I would be very grateful. Thanks for any help that can be provided!
