I am a Goldsboro NC resident and I am in search of a job in the mechanical field. I really don't want to have to drive all the way to Wilson, or Greenville, or Kinston or Raleigh for a job. Do we have any Goldsboro residents that have the 411 on mechanical Jobs in or around the Goldsboro area that pay $25 an hour starting?
What’s your educational background and experience? That will be a big deciding factor, especially if you’re looking for a mechanical job that starts you at $25/hr.
Jobs in Goldsboro are pretty hard to come by. Same with Wilson and Kinston. I can’t speak for Greenville. Raleigh undoubtedly has more jobs than the other three cities.

I spent 15 years in Aerospace Ground Equipment and about 4 as an aircraft crew chief. I found one place in Wilson that pays $26 an hour starting. It's shift work though.

Well, ok lol. I guess I would've thought the job market here would be a little better.

Actually I've been looking there, and on glass door, naf jobs, etc. Haven't found anything. Most of the hiring is for Air Force reservists. Not wanting to go to an ART position after retiring from active duty.
Because I own a home here and didn't want to have to move
It might not be necessary to move (unless you want to), but you’re still gonna have to commute. This is probably a long shot, but try looking into Spirit Aerosystems in Kinston and see if they’re hiring and what their qualification requirements are. If that doesn’t pan out, either take that job in Wilson or start looking into Raleigh. I would say Greenville but the commute on US-13 blows and taking I-795/US-264 from Goldsboro to Greenville adds more mileage.
Eastern NC is generally good for cost of living and retirement, but jobs...not so much.
What does that have to do with "I guess I would've thought the job market here would be a little better."?
Just because you live there Goldsboro should have a better job market? Makes no sense. Did you mean to say "I wish Goldsboro had a better job market"?
Because Goldsboro is a military town. Some folks that retire here, stay here. I would have thought that because of that, there would be good jobs nearby for retirees. I guess not.
