I have forgotten to ask whether the Raleigh area and surrounding communities have strict or even ANY real zoning restrictions. They are sadly lacking here in Houston and as a result you could end up with a storage warehouse or a strip center anywhere. In one of Houston's loveliest (and most upscale) neighborhoods of single family homes, a 14 story highrise was errected. Nothing like having your homes and property exposed to peepers in high places. Many new developments leave commercial access on the perimeters of new homes with nothing but an 8 foot brick wall between homes and retail. In my own subdivision on the far side there is a strip center with a Kroger store just on the other side of our perimeter wall. I don't want that in my next community. Can anyone tell me what the zoning restrictions are in the Raleigh area?
