I can't believe no one posted a topic about this guy yet. So what would you do if you won that much money?

Fix up the house buy a new truck and then......

The King Air 350 to get me from here

to this

and then this of course

Thats it, the rest goes into solid growth investments so that the supply of food, fuel and fun never runs out.

Best part is that I can move my vacation home anywhere in the world I would want to go....

Mr.Lloyd opted for the one-time payout for about 37 mil. (He was in pretty good financial shape before the win).

I'd quit my job and...wait...what?...oh, that's right, I'm retired. Well, then I'd have to go try to find a job so I could quit it. <I crack me up.>

I'd make sure my kids and grandkids were taken care of. Pay off mortgages and set up education trusts. Charity would get a chunk. And I'd endow a theater group. (Sneaky way to assure that I'd get the lead in every production)

I'd hire a cleaning lady!

If I won 37 million dollar bill payout, worth about 120,000 gold dollars (after deflation), I would probably build a small city, endow a children's hospital, fund a polytechnical institute, and loan the rest out, at zero interest.

To quote my one friend when having this discussion when we were younger "Quads for everyone!"... LOL

The bulk of it would go into building a company as investment into the future, not sure what but I'm sure it would be related to coal. Probably build a compound with nicely separated spaces and invite some close relatives and friends to live there. Set up some college funds for the same people's kids and if they have no kids perhaps a nice gift.

For my personal enjoyment the yacht posted above looks like a nice idea but personally I'd go with the land yacht. Custom bus and trailer with all the trimmings like a humvee in the trailer, I'd spend the rest of my days traveling around the north and south American continents with it.

Pay off our bills
Buy a nice, but moderate home
Buy new cars for my husband and me
New furniture and furnishings for the whole house
Go back to school for my BA (or even Masters)
Take a round-the-world vacation
Buy an RV
Donate some of the money
Put the rest into investments

I'm a pretty frugal person (I suppose I have to be considering I live in a large city, and my take-home pay is only about $1,800/month).

If I won that much money I'd buy as many sub-$50,000 homes in Pittsburgh as I could, fix them up, and then rent them out at reasonable monthly rates. Pittsburgh has a huge shortage of available rental homes, and this would kill two birds with one stone by also helping to provide stability to some of our neighborhoods via removing blight and decreasing housing vacancy.

I'd also consider "buying" the Scranton mayoral election at some point.
