Milford is very safe. Crime is extremely low. Probably the 2 biggest problems (not that even these are big problems) are DWIs and kids smoking pot. I went to junior high/high school in Milford, lived in Dingmans Ferry. My mother still lives in the area, as do several friends. I would feel 100% comfortable raising a family in Milford. I think a lot of the higher crime areas are well to the south and west of Milford/Pike County, but I am not sure. The "Poconos" covers a very large area.

Very safe, very good schools.

DH commutes and is on the road at night (1am) a lot of times he sees the state police pulling over drunks. So be watchful on the roads at night.

Thanks,
Yes, Milford is safe. I agree with the person who wrote the above.
Boring, but safe. Only Walmart & K-Mart is our shopping. Can't really
walk around if you live outside the town due to bears. Wildlife is pretty.
Be careful of the deer crossing. If you see one there is usually two, three more.
Slow down and look carefully. Join a gym or you will definitely gain weight living here. Jokes don't go over well in Milford as people don't get city humor.

Was this city humor?

We have a weekend house in one of the lake communities outside of Milford. Yes, there are bears. We've seen them walking through our property. This doesn't stop us from walking around outside! I regularly take long walks around the lake. Bears around here are very happy to leave people alone if you leave them alone.

And here we are, years later, and YES, Milford PA is still a safe and wonderful place to live.

Not only does its unique location border NY and NJ as well as the Delaware River, which gives you infinitesimal choices of activities, events and places to go, but the charm and history of Milford will find you smitten to stay.

Its a great place to live.
