Great time to take a Sunday drive! Today I took my wife and we drove out Route I-80W, to I-180, to Route 15N, to I-86E, to I-81 and back home to Swiftwater.

Many areas are at peak, some are just starting and some are already late peak. But it was a gorgeous day and I would recommend that little 400 mile stroll to anybody that has the time. If you don't have the time; you could simply run north of Scranton on I-81 - the trees are just about in peak foliage to the NY line.

Enjoy, enjoy! It will not last forever.

Sounds like a pretty route.

One of my all time favorite drives in NEPA's Endless Mountain Region:

Route 11 from Clarks Summit through Factoryville, past the magnificent Nicholson's Tunkhannock Viaduct, up to charming New England-ish New Milford to Great Bend.

Anyone out there familiar with that drive???

Me. Not exactly familiar but certainly a hand-shaking acquaintance. It's a spectacular vista. I much prefer 11 to the interstates, because when you see something worthy of a second look you can take the time to enjoy the view.

I've lived in this area for 47 years and have taken more than one trip to see the Autumnal foliage. They're usually at peak the week-end after my birthday.

Admittedly, when we had tons of leaves to be raked, I used to invite all the Leaf Peepers to "bring a bag and a rake and you can take some home with you."

Great idea! Did you find enough peepers? If you have extra peepers send them down to our five acres!

You also might try going after the 'Pressers': Preserving Autumn Leaves - 3 Methods. We will get busy making those 'FREE LEAVES' signs.

My mother used to press leaves. She preferred country leaves, but she'd use any nice specimen.

I have five acres of "country leaves" if you want to take up where your mother left off! They probably would fit in a tri-axel if you pressed them real good!

Um, I think that's a few too many. Compost? I'don't think the yard is big enough.

Just keep me in mind if you ever want more than your share of pretty colored leaves!
