Hello, my husband and I are looking for an investment home in northeastern PA. Is Susquehanna a good place to live? We are looking for a 2-3 bedroom unit and once the mortgage is paid, would likely keep one one unit vacant for our own use part of the year. I should specify that I work from home (and would work from there as well) and my husband would not be working during our months in PA. I'm looking for a place with low crime and some outdoorsy things to do, maybe some community events in the summer.

Anywhere in NEPA is "outdoorsy" but Mayberry RFD is long gone unless you don't mind living deep in the woods....

Do you mean the County of Susquehanna or the Borough of Susquehanna? Susquehanna Borough is very small and at one time housed the Erie Railroad shops. It was the hometown of the renowned psychologist B. F. Skinner.

There are many nice rural areas in Susquehanna County. Montrose, the county seat, is a beautiful village. The Montrose area lost its biggest industrial companies including Bendix Flight Instruments in South Montrose and the Ritz Textile Company also in South Montrose.

Natural gas frackers now provide most of the industrial employment.
