EFC vs. WFC? (Arlington, Annandale, McLean: apartment, homes, transfer)

WFC is more upscale, less urban feeling.

West Falls Church is further west, and East Falls Church is further east. Oh, you knew that already.

OK - One significant difference is that the area around the WFC metro is in Fairfax County, and the area around the EFC metro is in Arlington County. Neither of the two stations is actually in the City of Falls Church.

Both areas are quite nice. EFC is closer to the Eden Center and Seven Corners areas, which do (as a PP noted) indeed have a lot of recent immigrants and renters. WFC seems to attract a lot of people who live in Falls Church, but prefer to say they live in the "McLean part of Falls Church."

Although there are several high-rise (but not particularly cheap) apartment buildings near the EFC metro, here are many more single-family homes within a one-mile radius of EFC than around WFC. The Seven Corners area is just beyond easy walking distance to EFC. The EFC station is adjacent to the W&OD bike path, and there are always lots of bikes in the bike racks there. There is considerably more parking space available at WFC, and there are shuttle buses running from WFC to the Tyson's area. Although both metro stations are located near I-66 and major highways, the EFC neighborhood has until relatively recently been much less "developed" than the area around WFC, which includes a two large full-service shopping centers, George Mason HS, and a building housing UVA graduate programs.

There are several huge high rise apartment buildings need EFC also that you won't find at all in WFC.

Falls Church is such a huge area that often times, when people ask you where you live, you'll have to give them a general idea.....clarifying whether you're closer to Bailey's Crossroads on the east, or closer to Tysons on the west, or south near Annandale, or actually central in the City of Falls church.

Maybe there are high rises to the south of EFC, but to the north/east is all single family homes. EFC is not in Falls Church, it's a neighborhood in Arlington that seceded from Falls Church back in the 1920s. They are planning to develop the area in the near future, to be more Clarendon-ish, if I understand the plans correctly.

I read somewhere that there will be considerable development at EFC since EFC station is going to be the transfer station for the silver line.
