Does your neighborhood have a listserv? Or are there teenaged girls nearby who have babysat for others?

1. Ask your neighbors for recommendations
2. Ask your church (if you have one) if they have a list of teens/young adults who sit
3. If your kids attend a daycare center or preschool, ask if any of their teachers moonlight as babysitters
4. If your kids are old enough/potty trained, see if your local rec centers offer "parents night out" events. We do this for most of our nights out. Not sure where you are, but here in western PWC I know Jumpin Jimmy's offers it, the Freedom Center, and the Pump it Up in Manassas... The upside is in totally tires the kids out. The downside is it is on the facilities schedule--so if we need something on a different night or different times, we can't use it.

We lived in a rural area without many teens, but we did find one not too far away that would babysit...we had to pick her up and take her home!.....A neighbor suggested her!

Talk to your friends and their families (if your friends don't use babysitters, yet)....someone is bound to have some ideas!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess we need to socialize and networking more.

Contact George Mason University. They have a list of students who have been checked out, etc. who babysit to earn extra money while putting themselves through school.
