Easton Town Center > Home

I was in Columbus OH and decided to stop for lunch at a fancy fish restaurant. Little did I know I would encounter such a great model that Landmark Mall can be turned into for a town center. This place was awesome and very clean. Has the main street that is real popular today along with a good mix of upscale and middle-class shopping. I was thinking "Man this would be an awesome thing to replace Landmark Mall." So what do ya'll think?

These type of outdoor, town center style, malls are the new wave. Is there talk of even tearing down Landmark?

Hi Alanboy! I like the new name.

As for town center, I like them, but I agree that trends like this come in waves and town centers (as cool as they are) may have already hit the crest of their wave. By the time it was converted, it would be already be on the way to feeling dated.

That town center in Columbus sure is nice, though. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Easton is huuuuuuuuuuuuge--way bigger than the land available at Landmark. Heck, Easton has a mall nearly the size of landmark in addition to all the outdoor shopping!

I don't think town centers make sense in this climate. In the summer/winter, I want the a/c or heat offered by indoor shopping. Where I grew up, in So Cal, they made plenty of sense--indoor malls were a unique concept that we only got to see when we visited friends or family out of town

I thought they were working towards something like this?

I think in this economy it would be challenging to do this. It certainly would be nice, but don't you all think that Landmark also suffers from having too many shopping centers close by? I mean you can go to Pentagon City, Old Town Alexandria, and Springfield and get a little bit of what they offer at Landmark from each. If they do this, then what's going to be the draw?

What I'd like to see happen to Landmark Mall would be a conversion to more of an entertainment center. Load it up with all sorts of ethnic/unusual restaurants. Turn the larger stores into awesome laser tag centers or small theaters. Etc. People may not be shopping at malls as much, but they still want places to go for entertainment.

I haven't seen any evidence of this yet. Town center-type construction appears to still be going strong and I haven't seen anywhere there's been a backlash or disappointing results.

Part of the plan is to integrate housing and offices so the retail has a base it can draw from.

It would be a good idea, but idk. It seems like they should just keep the indoor mall and get more tenants who are worth a damn.

I can imagine this happening at Springfield malls location, but not at landmarks location.
