Hi, I am looking for some good full day (8 to 6) preschool in chantilly area. We live in South Riding. Are there any specific recommendations? My son is 3 yrs old.

Thanks.

My kids have been going to The Boyd School in Chantilly for two years. I live in South Riding and it's a 15 min. commute by the back roads. It's from 18 months old to 8th grade Montessori school.

I've looked at both of those myself and would be willing to send my child to either of them if it wasn't for the price. Goddard was $1350 a month and Boyd was $1125. My son is only 18 months old though so I can't justify the money right now. When he is 3, I will probably send him to one of these.

Default price question

Is that $1125 per month for full-day preschool? I was just wondering because compared to daycare/nanny/au pair, that's not too bad I was thinking. I may be moving out to south riding, so I will have to find a montessori school out there that is convenient. I was thinking of touring the boyd school.

I've heard good things about the Boyd School and like the fact that it goes up beyond Kindergarten if you end up liking the Montessori learning method. $1125 for a full day preschool is not bad.

We save money but pay the in-laws watch the kids because they are retired and like the extra income.

The $1125/month covers only their academic year, which is September to May (or June). And the timigs are only from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. So for someone looking for full time (till 6 pm) and for 12 months, the Boyds school costs around $1700 or so.

We really liked the Boyds school, but gave up looking at the cost and timings.

You are right about Boyd's for the time. However, the price I was quoted for Boyd's was $1125 a month. I don't know if that was for a full academic year or year round. It doesn't say either way on the website and I didn't ask that question (wish I had) when I spoke with them. They do not offer a full time daycare at Boyd's. Goddard was $1350 a month and was a full time (0700 to 1800) school. It is also a year round tuition rate.

I'm actually shocked that there are people on here that think these prices aren't bad. No disrespect intended but wow. I'm paying less than $500 right now for full time daycare. I think $800 for Kindercare is pushing my limits more-or-less $1350.

I think it's not bad because I've been a child care provider for 9 years and know how hard the job is. For my own (only) child's care, I don't mind paying that much. I'm in no way rich or well off (quite opposite actually) but when it comes to paying for someone to watch the most precious thing for me on this planet, I don't care how much it costs. But thats just me. And I do understand that expensive doesn't equal quality. However, I think the Montessori method of learning will be the best one for my child.
