Has anyone experienced this in Nova. Apparent!y CVS and Walgreen's both are being sued. They aren't allowed to tell you that it is often less to simply pay cash as opposed to using your insurance. The benefit managers are pocketing the difference. This is about as raunchy as it gets.

I realized this long ago with Lisinopril at Wegmans. Didn't provide any insurance info. Later I filled another drug and it went through insurance. Wegmans then kept trying to fill my Lisinopril with my insurance. It was a hassle for months until I spoke to the pharmacy manager and clearly explained that was not to happen again.

This has happened to me a few times. CVS is in some racket deal with Aetna and many times I have been over-charged.

And we wonder why health care is a mess? It goes deeper than the insurance companies, and no two insurance plans are the same. My son and I both take Immitrex. His copay is $250 for 3 boxes - sure he is on the catastrophic plan.....but for $10, I get 9 boxes.

They can and do, I have used the Walgreens club thing along with my insurance, whichever is cheaper, but I do have to ASK. Your insurance company sets your copay, not the retailer. It's not up to the pharmacy to know all the ins and outs of all the various plans and copays out there, and to my knowledge anyone can join the prescription savings club- except medicare/medicaid apparently.
People need to be more proactive with this kind of thing, do your homework and quit expecting everybody else to look out for you.

Prescription Savings Club Benefits
Q: Why should I enroll in this program?
Hide Answer
A: If you are uninsured, your insurance doesn't cover all of your medications, or your insurance co-pays are too high, Walgreens Prescription Savings Club offers discounted prescription pricing for you and members of your family.

This used to happen to me but it was a LONG time ago. For instance, I noticed once that I bought a generic drug that was about $7 but I got charged a $10 copay. That was back in the 1990s when I started using the Target pharmacy.

I've been using Wegman's and CVS exclusively for a few years now and if the drug is lower than my copay, I pay the cheaper price.

This happens to me in Texas all the time. Especially when I was on an Obamacare plan which I paid over $1,000 a month for. Turned out to be much more advantageous just to pay cash for everything on top of that. So worthless.

Actually, you don't have to ask. That's why I left CVS a few years ago, you can't tell me they don't know the usual offenders (drug names). This is why Walmart started providing certain antibiotics for free. They realized what was going on and capitalized on the overcharged market. It wasn't long before Giant and a few others caught on. I went from a $20 co pay at CVS to $4.20 at Walmart for one RX. A new health plan forced me back to CVS, the last place I want to be.

Lots of people pay different prices for the same items all of the time. Insurance isn't a guarantee of lowest price. You have to do your due dilligence and pay attention.

I was referring to the criminal element. Fraud comes to mind.
