Hello, everyone.

I currently live in the Bucknell Manor neighborhood near Belle Haven Road. I commute into DC for work daily via metro. I have been attempting to do research on daycares nearby that will accept infants at 3 months. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with daycare facilities near my area? Any recommendations?

Thank you in advance for your insight!

Just a word of advice, it is extremely difficult to get a spot for small infants at most daycare centers. Most only have between 4-16 spots for infants under the age of 1 and limit about half those spots at the max for very small infants less than 6 months. But there is a preference for siblings at a day care, so just about all spots for very small infants goes to those families with multiple kids at the center. So the chances of getting a spot at 3 months is very low and you pretty much have to have a parishioner/employer preference if they have one AND be on a waitlist at list midway in your pregnancy.

I put my child on 10 waitlists while my wife was pregnant and only got off 2 before my child was 1 year old, at around the 6 month mark for both. After my child turned 1, we got invited to 2 more, but I never heard from the other 6 ever.

The best source for info about daycares is at dcurbanmom.com, but just be aware they are very catty over there so take any advice or comments with a grain of salt and not personally. My child was in the American Day School at ages 1.5 to 2 and it was OK. No big issues, great parents (still friends with some of them and they were a great source of information to me about things like local schools), but the teachers/providers were just OK.
