Since the Walking Dead takes place in Alexandria, has anyone noticed any uptick in tourism in the area like Georgia did when the show first aired?

I doubt it.

1.) There probably was an increase in tourism in GA because TWD is filmed in GA.

2.) The Alexandria on TWD does not resemble the real life Alexandria - at all.

Yea they aren't actually in Alexandria I don't think. I'm pretty sure it's all filmed in Georgia. I remember when they first "arrived" in Alexandria, and somehow, driving up from Georgia, they drove past the Washington Monument on their way to Alexandria, and they saw it from a cliftside, and the monument was like, on a peninsula or something?

I don't know why they had that shot in there it made no sense.

Senoia, GA is the filming location for both Woodbury and Alexandria.

Yea I thought so. Whenever they venture out of their little compound, it all looks like backwoods Georgia.

I always thought that shot with the Washington Monument was along the GW parkway.

The elevation in that shot was higher than anywhere on the GW Pkwy that is that distance from the monument.

I find it odd that the planned community is called Alexandria - it was on the sign - they haven't said that they are in Alexandria the city. It's not like the walkers are parading around Old Town. Or maybe they are just in Fairfax County with Alexandria in the mailing address. Our weird county/city thing is confusing even after the zombie apocalypse.

I have family in both Senoia and in the Henry County and Covington areas where some of the other filming has taken place. Like KnownUnknown said, there is no way that area passes as NoVA. Way too many pines and kudzu.
