Good day folks. Is there any local good seafood restaurants that won't cost me an arm and a leg to eat there. Maybe a local "hole in the wall"??

Don't tell me Red Lobster, please. I am looking for something local that I can appreciate the local seafood.

Thanx.

Maybe Fish Market in Old Town Alexandria? I haven't been there recently, though.

Coastal Flats is outstanding! Locations in Tysons Corner Center (Tysons I) and Fairfax Corner. Check the Great American Restaurants site Redirector for details. GAR also has some other great restaurants in NOVA as well like the Carlyle in Shirlington and Artie's in Fairfax City--great groups of restaurants!!!

Captain Pell's is a good joint. (Rt 29, near Fairfax High School)

I sometimes sell CP my crab catch.

Plus he buys like a zilliion boxes of Girl Scout cookies every year.

I DREAD Girl Scout cookie season because I drive school bus....I get hit up by tons of kids and tons of drivers with kids! And I ain't sposed to be eatin' that stuff anyhow!

Captan D's is cheaper than McDonalds. In Manassas on Centreville Rd. Lots of coupons. Great catfish--the country style has far less breading.
Other than that, the best bet is the freezer at Trader Joe's; 5.59 per pound: line caught, wild King Salmon. Last time I went to McCormick and Schmidts I had the runs for two days.

The Fish Market in Old Town, Alexandria is good like a PP said. But, to get real good seafood, go to Annapolis, Mike's for crabs. Pretty much any seafood you get in Annapolis is good.
Coastal Flats is good but it certainly is not good local seafood like what you are looking for.

It's summer and everybody's thoughts turn to .... crabs!

The Washington Post did an article on everybody's favorite local seafood dives. I see two of my personal faves listed.

Check it out.

Joe's crab shack, in the Fairlakes area, serves crab legs (but not blue crabs). It is a bit more Red Lobsterish than local, so probably not what your looking for. But it does have a little play area for the kiddies and the food, while not great, is all right. So I figured I'd give it a mention.
