There are apparently quite a few....but they are expensive.

Alexandria Furnished Apartments | Oakwood

I'd look for a pet-friendly hotel, instead. Might be a little bit cheaper.

I think most Residence Inns accept pets.

You may want to check out Bringfido.com. They will even list fees, if applicable.

We stayed at the Residence inn in Merrifield for a month with our dog. That location might work, or there may be a closer one actually in Alexandria. It wasn't all that cheap though - I think a month was about $5,000 ($150 or so a night for 30 days).

Called them, and after I did remembered why we never used them. Their temporary is housing has a minimum of 30 days.

Still looking ugg-- this is a pain! Wish I could just find a private owner.

For under thirty days, you're best (and likely only) bet is a hotel. I don't know why a private owner would be in the business of short term rentals. The administrative process is too burdensome to consider it.

The Residence Inn Pentagon City is pricey but good. It's clean and modern and close to the Metro. Service is extremely courteous. In addition to the room charge and parking fee, they charge a $200 non-refundable "sanitation" fee, no matter how long you and your dog are there, plus $8 per day per pet I think. I'm not sure how noisy the construction is nearby.

You could probably negotiate a lower cost for a two week stay than the usual daily rates.
