County Adopts Long-Range Plan for Going Green | Loudoun Independent
Last night the Board of Supervisors adopted the Loudoun County Energy Strategy.
It's a 30-year plan that includes increased reliance on wind power, encouraging use of energy-efficient vehicles and lobbying for stricter building codes to create more energy-saving buildings. The strategy is to reduce energy usage in Loudoun by 21 percent over the next 30 years despite the fact that the county will be growing.
The document has no legal weight and is simply a roadmap for how the county should proceed with its conservation efforts.
So.... what do you guys think about it? Good idea, or bad idea?

Well, it's a good thing I guess. I applaud going green, and I know they had to come up with these guidelines to qualify for a $2.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. But doesn't it seem silly to adopt a document that has no legal weight? It's not like they can use these guidelines to enforce anything.
