City hastens frequency of buses

Widely criticized service cuts are being revived incrementally as Caldwell promised
By Marcel Honoré

POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, May 28, 2013
The city this week is restoring more bus service, part of a plan Mayor Kirk Caldwell and transit officials rolled out earlier this year to reverse many of last year's widely unpopular cuts in TheBus routes.

Good news, but wondered if a long term plan based upon tax revenues would be better than sporadic piecemeal fixes?
Road congestion and the time impact upon longer route ridership is affecting riders as well. New arrivals without cars yet, or rentals, and tourists going a longer route, may feel the effects too.

From what I understand it's going to be a huge relief to those who rely and depend upon The Bus. Good for them!

I'm the one who is a resident and relying on The Bus services. The cut would not happen in the first place if there were enough public hearings.

I'm confused. I was watching the news and it seemed to be saying the bus routes/schedules would be restored to previous runs. It mentioned the very long waits incurred by riders now and it seemed the people riding were happy. I'm pretty good at getting things all mixed up.
