This is a bittersweet story as the building now is mostly empty (the story says Longaberger was acquired by a Texas company and I wonder if many of the office jobs were moved elsewhere).

However, it sounds as if the company has collapsed in size based on this article.

Yes, Longaberger has been in a long decline since not long after the building opened. Everybody blames Tammy Longaberger for ruining the company after her father died, but I'm not sure how great of a foundation he built. He built this overpriced, impossible-to-sell office building, so what other mistakes did he make? (There's a story, meant to be heartwarming, about how he rejected all of his consultants' advice, slammed a basket down on the table, and told them to make the building look just like it. In hindsight it sounds like the architects and such were right.)

I'm not sure how they're going to sell the building. I read in the local paper a while back that they'd rejected a lot of offers that weren't nearly what they were looking for. At some point I think they're going to have to realize that there's not a huge market for a large office building with a bunch of frivolous architectural flairs on the wrong side of Newark. (The handles have to be heated in the winter to keep falling ice from damaging the skylight.)

I wonder whether it would be cost effective to remove the handles. Great info.!
