I dont like driving on interstate so I have decided to take Dodge all the way to get downtown......is it a safe route (crime wise)?

.....also.....is the old Market a safe area? It seems like some shootings have been in the news lately there?

What about Benson?

Yes Dodge St is safe to drive on all the way to downtown Omaha and yes the Old Market are is as well. Most shootings that you might hear or read about happen on the north side of Omaha, however it could happen anytime anyplace. You're never truly safe from danger and should always be familiar with your surroundings and pay attention to what's happening. Drive with your doors locked at all times whether in Omaha or elsewhere!

Very safe. I drive it all the time, and I'm a single female.

The Old Market is generally safe. Benson's a bit dodgier (but not what I'd call a dangerous neighborhood).

The Old Market is mostly safe. There's some wholesome stuff down there, like ice cream, candy store, and antiques. The south part of O.M. is safer than the north part, as the bars are concentrated along Harney or 10th street.

As for driving, the interstate is probably the most dangerous place you can drive in Omaha. So yes, Dodge is safer than the interstate.

Benson is a big time crime neighborhood

Yes. Tens of thousands of people drive down that road every day without issue.

Yes, especially during nightlife hours when the most people are there.

Those events are exceptionally rare in the Old Market.

What about Benson?

Also very safe, especially the closer you get to the Maple Street Corridor. The far northern end of Benson can be a little questionable in some spots, but there's not really much reason to be there unless you live there.

It's sketchy in spots, like the area around Family Dollar and BK.
