Researching towns in Oregon to relocate to. Visited Klamath Falls about 20 years ago and was charmed by it. I’m a public school teacher (younger grades) with three adult kiddos and two grandkids .Please share your opinions and experiences.

It is a poor city and one of the more conservative places in Oregon. Also very much isolated and off the beaten path. But it is also big enough to have a few urban amenities and a local college.

I think the local district has been struggling with teacher shortages (just like many other rural areas of Oregon) so an elementary teaching job may not be that hard to find. But you will want to do your own research on that before committing to any move.

But nothing is for free. There are prettier and nicer towns in Oregon but they are also going to be more expensive than Klamath Falls and perhaps harder places to find teaching jobs. Hood River is an example that comes to mind. Or the greater Bend area.

Look into Oakridge/Westfir, small but close enough to Eugene for decent shopping.

It's a farming/ logging town. Good people, every kind of shopping you need for day to day living, and then of course, there is Amazon if you can't find what you need.

Life is pretty sedate, but good boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, camping in the area. Gardening is pretty good considering it is the east side of the Cascades.

It's not so much that real estate is cheaper but there are lots of smaller less fancy places for sale so the price is more reasonable to get yourself into a place as long as you don't need a McMansion.

The best thing about K Falls is that Californians don't find it attractive.

I looked at it. I liked that it has an active museum and historical society, two native plant gardens, its own symphony, and the Winter Wings Bird Festival every winter.
