Move to where ever the Vet Asst can find a job. It seems to me that there is another very recent thread on this same subject.

You should probably have some idea where you want to live. Also, what kind of animals are you going to work with?

With absolutely no hint of what you're wanting to do or what kind of place you want to live, there's really no way to tell you whether you should move out to some tiny town in eastern Oregon or go to Portland or somewhere in the WV, or...

You have to provide some information.

You asked this same question on another thread. I think you got some good answers there. But again the best thing to do is to choose a town and then contact veterinarians and animal clinics in that town to see if they are hiring.

Again, you will find the most places to contact in Portland and just outside of Portland.

You say you are looking for good areas in which to work. What may be good area for a Veterinary Assistant job for one person may not suit your needs. If you want more specifics, you will have to share what you are looking for: how large a town, what amenities do you require, what facilities, what type of housing....etc.

I wonder, just out of curiosity, it you know so little about Oregon why are you choosing it as a place to live? I mean it's a great place of course but I wonder why someone would have definite plans to relocate to a state without knowing anything about it?

Locally we have "The Toby Fund".

I thin the area of your choice would have allot to do with which type of animals your going to treat, are they large breed or small breed animals. If it large breed animals then Central and Eastern Oregon would be ideal, small breed, then most anywhere, if you can find a Vet clinic that willing to take you on.

Smile Changed

Sorry I seems as though my question was worded wrong. All these answers suggest moving to Oregon...I just wondered how well these places are ran, like (do you like where you are working?) Most vet places here seem to not go by laws, they do whatever in there and get away with it. I am not willing to work in a place that treats animals like ****. Maybe that is more directive of where I was going. However this might be the wrong place to ask this question

Our veternarians have medical licences, just like physicians. If they practice bad medicine their licence can be revoked. Why on earth would you think that they do not abide by laws?

I doubt if anyone were familiar with unscrupulous veterinary practices they would be posting the information on a public forum. That is something you will just have to determine for yourself after working at a veterinary facility. For the record though, I have lived in Oregon for a long time and have never heard of any illegal actions by veterinarians here.
