1) Medford's airport appears to have mainly turbopops, except for UA flights to SFO. True? Thinking of connections to major hub cities to go overseas if we retired there (wife has family in Brazil). I've heard of fog causing flight delays. A regular occurrence? Any other regular problems?

2) How often does winter weather make driving difficult in the area, on main highways, except for going south over the Siskiyous?

3) Are there any gated communities for new or newer homes in either city, or nearby? I know the arguments against them (mainly that they aren't needed in sch an area), but my wife would like to at least know if there are any in the area. Thanks!

1) True. Not often. I don't live in Medford but in the past I traveled by air a lot. One of my rules was to avoid tight connections. When I had an international flight connection I would take the earliest flight to that connecting city I could book, even fly down the day before (heck I don't travel internationally often so why not spend a day seeing the sights at my connecting city). Spending a day in San Francisco can be fantastic and because you would be booking onward well in advance you will be able to find decent hotel prices. Coming home I rarely worried about flight delays unless it was right before a holiday and the kids were waiting for me.

2) Rare, if ever.

3) Not that I know of.
