I have exhausted my resources looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom, 1 or 2 bathroom detached single family home for rent in or around Colonialtown, College Park, Winter Park, and Baldwin Park, up to $1400 monthly, that allow pets. What are some other nice neighborhoods that aren't too far removed from that area? I really like the character and charm of those areas and I feel like other neighborhoods further from city center are more cookie-cutter and run-down. I am going to be working at Florida Hospital South and I am moving from elsewhere in the state, but I am familiar with Orlando.

Another awful issue is that nobody calls you back on rental homes! I have had exactly two callbacks or emails back and probably 50 phone/email inquiries out, and when they do get back to me the home is already rented. How do these realtors get these homes rented if they never answer their phones? :\

Fl realtors in Central FL do not work weekends and yea they do not call back- found that out in Tampa. I'm from S-FL and it's ON- 24-7- holidays nights, early morning they hustle.

The rental. market in Orlando is very tight. Realtors talk to those who are in town and are ready to rent TODAY. Look a little north. Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Casselberry.

try this. I currently rent a 4 bedroom, 2000 sq ft home with huge screened in pool for $1400. Me, I was rear ended and had to sell my 2 level home cause i couldn't really walk up the stairs after 2 spine surgeries. They were very fast, I was in the rental within 2 weeks of viewing. I'll be looking for another home to buy by the end of the year and they have been very good to us. They allow pets as well.

My other thought is to go for one of the apartment complexes in the aforementioned area--I'm currently looking at Post Lake at Baldwin and SteelHouse Orlando. I really like the look of SteelHouse and from reviews it sounds like they are not only pet friendly but are a large-dog community and everyone really gets into their dogs there, which is awesome! I can't believe Post Lake wants a $1000 PER PET pet fee that is basically nonrefundable. If I am paying more for my pets than I am to move in, that's rather ridiculous.
