Keep in mind as well that when it comes to Disney people can get a little weird which puts the company in sort of a unique position. For every occupation or job title there are hundreds or thousands of Disney fans out there who believe that working for the Mouse would be their absolute dream job and would cure all the ills in their life. Every overweight, older woman who likes Disney dreams of getting to be the Fairy Godmother, Disney fans who are nurses dream of getting paid what they do up north to hand out band aids at the first aid station, Disney fans who are teachers think they are all qualified to come down and teach 'Traditions', you get the idea.

That means lots of well qualified applicants. You can be a good fit, but if the person in HR has already pulled 50 other resumes that were good fits you're outta luck. They've also got 50 or 60 THOUSAND (I forget the number) employees already on site they can draw from so sometimes even a few hours proximity matters.

It's not impossible to get hired from the outside into a corporate type position with Disney, but the odds are certainly not good.

Professional positions (and salaried positions for that matter) at Disney are EXTREMELY competitive. As previous posters have mentioned, there are often already lists of internal candidates lined up before they even start looking at external applications, in addition, as also previously mentioned, Disney tends to heavily favor graduates of their college program and internship programs.

My recommendation is that you keep applying for positions that interest you, do not give up, call the Casting Center frequently to check on the status of your application, and when you get the opportunity to speak with an actual recruiter try to establish a network with that person.

Best of luck!

It's not impossible, but I think you have to make yourself stand out somehow. My husband got a job with Disney this year. He applied, and 3 days later received an email requesting an interview. What we think made the difference is that he used LinkedIn to contact the right people in the area he applied. After he was hired we found out there were over 4,000 applicants. The process was long and took several months. They did contact him quickly after each interview to set up the next one, but it usually took a few weeks to get on the schedule. The whole process from application to hire took 3 months.

I used to work for Disney and can tell you that 95% of those who apply for anything other than housekeeping, fast food, or janitorial don't even get an interview. The majority of people who apply for jobs at Disney don't meet the minimum criteria. People want to work there so badly that they apply for every job hoping they might get lucky, even if they are completely unqualified.

Just because those other 3999 didn't get the job it doesn't mean that they aren't working someplace else and making good wages.
