You can kill it with Round-up concentrate, It will take at least a week to brown up. You'll have to get ant granules for the ants. Once it's dead, you can replace it with new sod. The new sod comes with it's own soil. Each pallet contains 400-500 sq ft. Seed doesn't do to well in FL and it takes forever to grow.

Are you looking for Bahia grass or St Augustine?

Bahia=$175/pallet
St Augustine=$200/pallet

The reason I know is because my husband lays sod. To see the different types of grass, you can Google it. Bahia is a thin blade grass and St Augustine is a fancy, thick blade. If you have a HOA, you might want to check with them to see what type of grass is allowed.

Look at cutting back on the size of your yard with some landscaping...it' will cut back on your water bill and require less sod...in the long run...grass in florida is a pain....

I just paid $600 to have two pallets of St. Augustine put down to replace some dead sod.

That included pre-treating with Round Up, the sod, labor, etc.

Keep in mind that if you don't irrigate the lawn, it's going to dry up and die again.
