You will pay a lot more from Aaron's Rent. just go in and get the weekly payment and for how long if you intend to buy. Then go to Rooms to go or another furniture store and price something similar.

if you just need to rent for a couple of months that is one thing but for rent to own it is going to be expensive.

By the time the rental period is over, you might as well have gone to the highest end furniture store in town.

Go to some of the second hand stores and buy furniture there. I've seen beautiful furniture in some of them that is spotless clean.

Thanks. What about bedbugs? My girlfriend is scared of getting them from used furniture.

What do you think happens when Aarons repos furniture that someone doesn't pay on or if someone turns the furniture back in?

By the way, one of the VP's at Aaron's is a friend. Boy could I tell you stories. That said, one of their biggest customers is military. Guys (and gals) who get short term duty assignments of 3-6 months and are housed in rooms on base that are pretty sparse. They often rent a recliner and a wide screen for the time they are there and then turn it back in when they get transferred elsewhere. I can see that making sense.

No RTO place is "good". There are a few situations where they are useful and many situations where the customer just ends up screwed out of a lot of money. I'd advise you to consider your options carefully before engaging.

Many "real" furniture stores offer RTO programs, so you can still pay way too much for your furniture, but leave behind the scummy feeling of going into an Aaron's. If you can pay off the balance in 90 days some are interest free. You might want to check into that.

If you actually want to buy furniture and not pay a ridiculous amount, search out used furniture on Craigslist, especially moving sales. You can score some really nice stuff for a fraction of the cost of buying new.

When I lived in NYC (where bedbugs were a serious issue) I would only buy used furniture that wasn't fabric (like tables, wooden dressers, etc...).

I have actually never heard of bedbugs being an issue here in Florida, so that really wouldn't be my main concern. Just use good judgement when buying things - in what kind of condition is the rest of the person's house in - does it look like they generally keep things clean and well maintained? I've been buying and selling ALL my furniture on craigslist in multiple states and have never had an issue. Saved a butload of money, too.

Do craigslist.

Rto is absurdly overpriced....You're better off putting the furniture at regular price at a non rto place on a credit card and paying off the balance. That's how bad rto is
