I will have a six-month internship at Universal Studios. Where can I get an apartment within walking or biking distance? I don't drive. It's an unpaid internship, so money's tight, too.

South Kirkman Rd.

Metrowest.

However, those streets (especially Metrowest) will be a little pricey.

Maybe you could look on craigslist for a roomate situation in the area boy3365 suggested. Also maybe check out the Intown Suites on Major blvd.

Try Kirkman, Conroy and Orlando Vineland Road. If you can find a roommate you may be able to get a pretty good rate. You may also want to look into buses. Universal has many bus lines that actually service their employee lot. Look into which lines they are and in what areas they run to. You may be able to find something cheaper and further out but on a direct bus line to Universal.

Yeah Universal has very good bus access so try to find something on a bus line.

I used to live in that area (on Conroy). It wasn't the safest part of town. If you are a female, I would be concerned. Could you ask the HR dept at Universal or maybe see if they have an employee newsletter or bulletin service? There might be others looking for roomates. Safety in numbers. I would also think about getting a cheap bike so I wouldn't have to walk. (not sure if you can ride on the sidewalks, but the roads around there are very busy and I wouldn't want to ride on them)

I think the Millenia area is marginally safer, but too far to walk so like the last poster advised please find someone to walk with for your own safety. 32811 is not the safest zip code. It is a very highly trafficked area as well.

Also the OP's description of his financial stuation was kind of vague, except to say he won't be getting paid. His choices seem to be pretty limited.

Congrats on your internship!

As one of the above posters mentioned, I think you definitely want to get in contact with Universal HR dept and ask if there are any programs in place for folks in your situation.

I know I remember reading that they had some arrangements with local landlords for their foreign student workers, and I would bet there is something that will have you covered.

Good luck!
