My friend is 18, she and I work together, so we carpool in together.
She has her own car and I do not, so she picks me up and takes me home, for this I am grateful.
Except the near death driving she does.

She's very uh, ditzy.
Like missing the road out of my neighborhood, whipping around in the middle of the road no signal, nearly having a HUGE truck completely eat the back end of her TINY little mercedes benz type of ditzy.

Granted its only like half a mile maybe 3/4 of a mile from my house to work.

Do I keep riding with her or beg my mom to let me live another day and her just take me into work? She hates the fact of taking me since I can get a ride in with my friend on the days we work the same shift.

If I could be the one to drive I would in a heartbeat.

If it's a half mile to work, why not bike? Or walk? When I commuted in NYC, I would take the train downtown, and walk a half mile at least to my office, in whatever weather - was actually rather pleasant.

Because why should she get to drive in while I have to walk.
That's not fair.

And I would kind of have to leave now instead of at 11:45-11:50 to get to work and its 11 now.

Hmmm....maybe because she has a car and you don't????? It all depends on how scared you really are. If you were concerned enough, you would have made plans to leave in enough time to bike or walk.

Um.

Because she has a car? If you don't feel safe with her driving, then you need to get yourself to work. Meaning, YOU get yourself to work, instead of asking others to do even that for you. What's exactly wrong with walking? It might help keep you in shape, I wish I had the option of walking to work.

And if you chose to bike (I know you mentioned you have a bike) - for that distance it's not exactly taking an hour to get there.

This just in: Life isn't fair. (It also isn't meant to be easy but that's another thread.) Walk. You'll get great looking legs.

Sad thing is, I know you are totally serious with this. Please revisit all the other posts where we told you it's time to grow up....so we don't have to keep repeating it.

My kids walk half a mile to the SCHOOL BUS STOP and you can't walk or bike to work?!?!? It only takes 10 minutes to walk the half mile and that is carrying book bags, gym bags and lunchboxes. I bet you can do it in less than an hour.

Looks like you have a couple options...risk your life in the car, walk or ride your bike, or quite your job and start 50 more posts about how miserable your life is.

FTR...I suggest the second option.

Are you serious....it would take you nearly an hour to bike less than a mile? It takes me about 20 minutes to bike the 5 miles to our local Farmer's Market every week.... I'm sure you could do it in less than an hour....

My sister is a crazy driver and she's 23, I refuse to drive with her unless I can drive her car.

I had to walk almost a mile (16 blocks) to school every day (and then back), sometimes twice a day.. and you can't walk half a mile to work? It only took me around 25 minutes to get there, so it should take you about half that. Or maybe she would let you drive her car from your house to work?
