- If you hate crowds and lines, shop at dinnertime (5 to 9 p.m.) or even later. Only 4 percent of shoppers hit the aisles between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. Least-crowded day of the week? Wednesday.
- I'm not just selling groceries, I'm selling real estate. Look high and low-literally-for good values from smaller manufacturers who can't afford to stock their products in the eye-level sweet spot.
- Be wary of "specials." When people see signs with numbers-"8 for $10!" "Limit: 5 per customer"—they buy 30 to 100 percent more than they otherwise might have.
- You'll end up tossing 12 percent of what you buy.

Good tip! Where I live the best time to hit the stores is half hour befor the school bus drops the kids off. All the moms tend to congregate for about a half hour before the kids get home. It's a social thing. So if you need to shop quickly, that's the best window of time.
Shopping at dinnertime here (say 5:30-6:30 ) is probably THE worst time. Everyone gets off work (like myself) and hits the grocery stores! Later, say after 7:30 is better.
I hate grocery shopping. I'm still waiting to be able to send my order in online and then just pick it up at a drive through window!!! Wouldn't that just be wonderful???

I detest grocery shopping as well. Actually, a few years back some of the grocery stores here in the Dallas area were offering a delivery service. You could either call in your order or submit it online. My elderly mother took advantage of it for quite awhile, but then the services were discontinued. I surmise it was either unfeasible or unprofitable for them.

This doesn't apply here in FL, as the seniors go at odd hours to shop.
But 3-4:30 PM is senior discounts time in many places to eat, so they will go and eat for a discount...!!
I do my grocery shopping online. It's fantastic, especially if you don't have a car. They shop, bag & deliver for you, no tipping allowed, and I always get free delivery. Can't beat that with a spoon!
But, sometimes, I still have to go for a few things, like today, stuff that they were out of online.
The west coast has been the first place I lived that does this.
I used to like going to Walmart late at night to shop, when everyone was asleep.
